To Create a Document from a Template

Follow these steps to create a document, in ALIM Web.
Note: When the Document Design plugin is installed, the steps to create a document differ slightly. For more information, see To Create a Document Using a Wizard.
  1. From the Navigation pane, select the Home icon. The Create New card appears in the Content pane. For example,
  2. If more than one scope exists in the community, set the scope in which to create the document.
  3. Click Documents. The Create a Document wizard opens. For example,
  4. Select an approved document template and then click Create and edit.
    The Document page appears. For example,
  5. Enter the following required information:
    • Number – Leave this field blank to have AssetWise Web automatically generate a unique code to assign to the document, otherwise select the box and enter a value.
      Tip: You can use a numbering mask and then click to automatically generate a code based on the specified format
    • Title – The title of the document.
  6. You can enter Class in the box provided.
    Note: This field is required.
  7. If this document is change controlled, ensure that Change Controlled is selected.
  8. You can enter Date Effective and Date Obsolete.
  9. You can add Remarks and a Synopsis for the document.
    Tip: If you need more space, click More Room... to expand the box.
  10. Complete all other fields as needed.
    Note: Required fields are marked with a red asterisk ( * ), but if all fields are mandatory, you will not see the red asterisk ( * ).
  11. Depending on the template, you can expand additional topics to add objects to the document, such as files, responsibilities, workflows, etc.
  12. When you are finished, click Save. The document is created, and the Document page appears. For example,
